A little 'sweet' smelling for my tastes, took me a minute to really enjoy it. Overall very nice, ...

I got the sample as I was considering buying a full bottle. I dabbed a little on a piece of paper and could only smell the alcohol. I didn't like it at first. I decided to throw it on after a shower to go to the store, I figured worst case scenario I come home and wash it off. At some point of the night, I brought my hand up to my face to pick something out of an eyelash, and caught a quick whiff of it on my wrist. Wow. The smell had changed completely, those base notes really came out. I couldn't smell the alcohol anymore, now it smells very sweet and somewhat rich. It's a classy, timeless smell. It smells like something a 23 year old might wear out, but his grandpa might too. It's not a particularly bold or sharp scent but it's still really nice. For me, it smells very sweet at first and it takes a moment for those base notes to overpower the sweetness, but it still smells clean. It's not a confused smell, all of its notes work together in excellent harmony. Over time that sweetness of what I think are the middle notes seems to fade in favor of the base notes. It projects well, and lasts a while from what I can tell from the one time I wore it.

TL;DR/Final Thoughts: I like it but not enough to pay what Dunhill asks for it. 150 bucks seems to be the going rate for a 100mL bottle right now. I'd gladly pay 90. But this is my personal preference. I like it enough to gladly wear it to work and wear out. But it wont be my first choice if I had to pay 150 for a bottle of cologne
